Tuition is based on a full term which consists of 30 classes held between September and May. Some months (especially those with school vacations) may only have two or three classes while others may have five in a month's time. Tuition is based on the total number of classes from September to May, so the monthly installment remains the same. Payment can be made in full at the beginning of the year, or an installment plan is available with eight equal monthly payments due at the beginning of each month (from September through April). Payments on tuition can be made by check to Maine State Ballet. These payments are due by the 10th of the month. We accept VISA and MASTERCARD. Student Accounts must be paid in full in order to register for new sessions (including new school years, and all summer workshops).
Costumes have to be ordered in December for delivery by May. This means the costume payment of $60.00 per recital dance is due before Christmas break in December so start saving now. Costumes will only be ordered for students who have paid for them by the due date. (Work classes (extra ballet classes) are not in recital; neither is the "Music and Movement" 10 week program for 3-4 year old students.)
Registration is an additional $10 per student due at the time of registration.
Class and individual photos are taken by a professional photographer at the end of the school year. Purchasing photos is an optional service we offer to families.
Recital tickets are sold here at the studio. Students who will go in the audience during recital will be required to purchase tickets. There is a discount offered for multiple students from the same family who each take only 1 class. Otherwise the discount is included in taking of multiple classes.
Other Policies
Make-up Classes: Missed classes are not refunded. The school year is structured to allow for approximately three snow days within the calendar year. If you wish to make up a missed class you may do so by attending another comparable class at your convenience and as approved by Maine State Ballet school.
Placement: Placement in class is determined by ability, dedication, effort and progress. Classes are created based on student levels and needs. We want everyone to fulfill their highest potential and enjoy themselves along the way. If you have any questions at anytime about your placement, please call us at the dancing school.
Registration: Fall registration begins in mid-July and can be done for many new students over the phone. Returning students are placed in new classes for the fall, and can register over the phone beginning in mid-July.
