March 19, 2009 -Maine State Ballet Sells Out Cinderella Shows Days before Opening

Falmouth, Maine - Tickets to Cinderella have been flying out of the Maine State Ballet Box Office the past few weeks. And now, two days before the opening show on Saturday afternoon, seats to all eleven shows over three weekends have been sold.

"This is a great problem to have," notes Maine State Ballet Board President Bill McKinley. "Knowing the popularity of our Cinderella production, we aren't surprised by the ticket success. And, our 115 seat theater offers an intimate view of our dance productions for families at a reasonable cost. However, we are very sorry to turn people away from a wonderful show and look forward to accomplishing our goal to expand the theater capacity by about 65 seats with enlargement of our parking area some day soon."

In the meantime, sell out crowds are expected at Maine State Ballet's shows throughout the year. In order to accommodate more people for the Cinderella run, the organization has added a Thursday evening show on April 2 at 6:00pm.

As a non-profit, Maine State Ballet strives to meet its mission of enriching the local community through education, outreach and expanded enjoyment of the arts. Maine State Ballet's School for the Performing Arts offers classes to 500 students in ballet, tap, jazz, and musical theater to children starting at age three. Adaptive movement classes are offered for children with Down syndrome. For adults, tap, ballet, ballroom and Zumba classes are ongoing. The studio and in-house theater are located at 348 U.S. Route One in Falmouth. Call 207-781-7672 or visit
