Maine State Ballet Financial Aid

A limited number of full and partial scholarships are offered by Maine State Ballet to qualified students.

Developing Dancer Scholarships - Partial to fully funded tuition scholarships for students 10 – 18 years of age.

New Dancer Scholarships - Partial to fully funded tuition scholarships for students 6 – 9 years of age entering Maine State Ballet for the first time.

Merit Scholarships - Fully funded tuition scholarships based on excellent dance aptitude and performance capability.

Developing Dancer Scholarships

Rationale:
Open to a limited number of Maine State Ballet students ages 10 – 18.  Funding is awarded based on attendance, talent, financial need, dance learning progress and underserved populations.   Financial aid can vary from full to partial tuition for the dance school year and summer ballet workshop.

Application Deadlines:
Dance School Year:   August 15
Summer Ballet Workshop:   May 1

Criteria:

  • Financial need  - Application and supporting information required
  • Excellent Attendance
  • Student dance learning progress/aptitude
  • Underserved student population

Student/Parent Requirements:

  • Student desire
  • Excellent attendance
  • Visible dance learning progress
  • Strong family commitment
  • Availability to participate in Maine State Ballet performances as requested

New Dancer Scholarships

Open to a very limited number of students ages 6 – 9 who are entering Maine State Ballet for the first time.  Funding is awarded for the dance school year and summer workshop based on dance potential, talent, financial need, and underserved populations.   Financial aid can vary from full to partial tuition for the dance school year and summer ballet workshop.

  • Student dance learning progress/aptitude
  • Underserved student population

  • Adequate dance learning progress
  • Potential for dance training
  • Strong family commitment

Merit Scholarships

Rationale:
Fully funded tuition scholarships for school year and summer study for students and company dancers
Merit scholarships are awarded to all company members who are high school graduates or the equivalent and are at least 18 years of age, are in good fiscal standing and remain in the area to dance and perform with MSB.  The scholarship period begins in the fall after a dancer’s senior year of high school or the equivalent.  Merit scholarships may also be awarded to promising dancers to fulfill performance needs of the company.

Criteria:

  • Excellent dance aptitude with physical,  creative and intellectual potential
  • Staff recommendation
  • Excellent attendance
  • Superior dance learning progress
  • Commitment to Maine State Ballet mission
  • Participation in Maine State Ballet season performance schedule as requested by Artistic Director
